Does it say what you want it to say about you and your business?
If it does great! It’s a keeper but if you thought “ well it looks like me but that’s all, you can’t really tell that:
I’m friendly, I’m serious, I like being outside, I’m a fantastic gym instructor I’m a great coach”
Whatever…
Then maybe it’s time to think about updating.
Where do you use your photographs. I’ll bet it’s mostly social media these days. Nowadays more than ever it’s important to have a cohesive brand image. Have a think about your brand values and let your headshot and personal branding images reflect that.
A headshot that says: I'm All about fun
Look how Marion Morrison Coaching uses her images. When Marion came for her photoshoot during our discussion she told me she wanted to look playful and fun and a bit thoughtful. Cue lots of smiley pictures, laughing, balloons (oh yes, balloons!) and lots of fun. Marion’s brand of coaching is all about making life less serious. It’s about finding the joy in the smallest of things. I think if you were looking for a life coach that was all about fun, Marion’s photographs would definitely make you consider hiring her
A headshot that says: I'm Gentle and Friendly
On the other hand, Julie Cullen career coach, wanted to look trustworthy, inviting, warm and friendly. Discussing career worries and future work prospects can be daunting. You don’t want to talk about it with just anybody. If Julie’s pictures were of her larking about in a playground you may feel she wasn’t the career coach for you however her gentle, quiet set of images positively encourage you to get in touch with her.
A headshot that says: I'm a bit glamorous
When Joyce was starting her Italian Designer vintage clothing brand, she really needed headshots that said luxury. Combining a glamorous make-up look by our in house make up artist Debbie, with Joyces own slinky top and classic gold jewellery really givesyou an idea of what the business is all about. The navy outfit shows a more traditional side to the business but the rose gold accents add a modern twist.
It really is worth thinking about what your clothes will say to your customers.
If you have trouble deciding then bring a whole range to your photoshoot and we can have a chat about what you should wear and even try a few outfits to see if its working for you.
Linda is very active on social media and uses video a lot. She also wanted to show her dynamic style of teaching. During our consultation she asked if it would be possible to take photographs with space where she can add some words of wisdom.
